The AI Club for Biomedicine, launched earlier this month, is a new initiative created to bring together the biomedical AI and machine learning community in Cambridge. This collaboration between the Milner and CRUK Cambridge Institute will be held on the first Thursday of each month in the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre, with thematic sessions designed to open conversations that inform, inspire, and connect researchers at all levels. Talks and discussions are followed by informal networking sessions over beer and pizza.

The AI Club is a joint initiative, currently organised by Namshik Han’s group at the Milner Therapeutics Institute and Florian Markowetz’s group at Cancer Research UK. Greg Hannon’s and Mireia Crispin-Ortuzar’s groups also support this initiative. Visit the AI Club webpage for more information.

We were delighted with the success of the first AI Club event. It was a full house, reflecting the appetite for more interactions across the community, and we are very pleased to help bridge that gap. Our hope is that this forum will foster new connections between those developing methodologies and those studying disease biology, diagnosis and treatment, enabling better application of AI for therapeutic challenges.
