The Milner Therapeutics Institute was delighted to welcome Isobel Stephen and Marguerite Meyer Bassnett from the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade to the Institute.
Dr Cathy Tralau-Stewart, Executive Director of the Milner Therapeutics Institute, welcomed the visitors together with colleagues Araminta Ledger from Cambridge University Health Partners and Nick Kirby from Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
The visit provided an opportunity to view the Campus from the roof of the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre and discuss its remarkable potential for future growth and innovation.
Discussions explored opportunities to further strengthen the life sciences ecosystem, including creating and supporting new start-ups, attracting global industry partners, developing a thriving innovation community around Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the new Cancer Research and Children’s Hospitals, accelerating scientific discovery and entrepreneurship, and supporting the creation of new companies and, ultimately, the translation of innovation into therapies for patients.
It was also a valuable opportunity to discuss the impact that continued support and investment in the Cambridge Biomedical Campus can have in enabling its world-leading research and innovation ecosystem to grow and deliver greater impact.
