One founder imagines a close-knit team with everyone pulling towards a shared mission. Another pictures a place where talented people have the freedom to explore. Both sound appealing. But they lead to very different decisions about who to hire, how to work and what good leadership looks like.
Even before you have a team, those choices start shaping your organisation. Left undesigned, the shape emerges by default. The gap between what you meant to build and what is quietly taking form becomes what we call Identity Debt. It is invisible at five people, painful at fifty, and costly to unwind once culture, systems, structure and people have all set around it.
In this hands-on workshop, we’ll start with a familiar dilemma from school, then play the Identity Game to explore four very different organisational identities.
Whether you’re working solo or making your first hires, you’ll leave with a practical lens for choosing what your organisation needs to be, and a shared language to help others build it with you. It will never be cheaper to choose than it is now.
