On 22 January, we were delighted to host the Cambridge–Oxford BioVenture Showcase, bringing together innovators, early‑stage founders, researchers, investors, and industry partners from the Cambridge-Oxford corridor. The showcase created a dynamic forum for science‑driven entrepreneurship and highlighted the strength of collaboration between the UK’s two leading life science clusters.

The session opened with welcome remarks from Elen Wade‑Martins, Innovation Project Manager at the University of Oxford’s BioEscalator, setting the stage for an afternoon of high‑quality science and entrepreneurial energy. Ten emerging companies delivered rapid‑fire 5‑minute pitches followed by 3‑minute Q&A sessions, covering a diverse range of innovations across therapeutics, platform technologies, diagnostics, AI‑enabled drug discovery, and tools for translational research.

The strong interest from the community was clear: the showcase attracted 81 participants, including investors, founders, and members of the wider innovation landscape. Each pitch sparked active engagement, with thoughtful questions and lively discussions reflecting genuine excitement about the science and commercial potential of these ventures.

Following the main presentations, Alexandra Huener, Head of Entrepreneurship at the Milner Therapeutics Institute, closed the session with reflections on the importance of cross‑cluster collaboration and continued support for early‑stage founders. The event concluded with optional breakout‑room networking, giving founders and investors the opportunity to continue conversations in a more informal setting.

This year’s presenting companies demonstrated the energy, creativity, and translational potential that sit at the heart of our ecosystems. The event showcased how strong partnerships across Cambridge, Oxford, and the wider life sciences community can help accelerate impactful innovation and support the next generation of science‑based ventures.

We extend our warm thanks to all presenters, investors, partners, and participants who made this showcase a success. We look forward to continuing to build on this momentum and fostering opportunities for founders across both Cambridge and Oxford.
