We are delighted to share that Dr Namshik Han, Head of AI and Computational Research at the Milner Therapeutics Institute, has begun a new role as Professor at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. Namshik will divide his time between Yonsei University and the Milner Therapeutics Institute, University of Cambridge, bolstering links between the two institutions through quantum-AI algorithm development for target and drug discovery.
The new appointment builds on our growing partnership with Yonsei University. In April, we joined a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Yonsei and three centres at the University of Cambridge: the Milner Institute, the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, and the Cambridge Centre for AI in Medicine. The MOU was designed as a springboard for joint research and talent exchange in quantum computing and AI for biomedicine, and supports our mission to transform pioneering science into therapies.
Namshik’s group at the Milner Institute aims to pioneer next-generation AI approaches –including quantum methods – to accelerate drug discovery. His team works to uncover disease mechanisms through the integrative analysis of multi-omics and clinical data, protein structures (e.g., AlphaFold), and biomedical knowledge graphs.
